Trivia by danich01 Trivia by danich01
I got bored and created this - it's nothing special, just the usual stuff, but I really like the background.

EDIT: I changed it a bit, the planet was horrible, this one is way better. Credit goes to ~FoxStox - I used her marvellous textures to make the planet - thanks very much!

I love your brushing/smudging technique (? not sure which one you use)..especially with incorporating and bringing it darker gas clouds to the bright areas, I always struggle with that aspect.

Very nice. It has a very eerie feel to it.

If I am not mistaken, and this is done with photoshop, then may I ask how you are able to preserve the extremely fine texture details on the planet after spherizing it without stretching and pixilating it?

I think the trick is in creating really big textures (this one is 300 dpi texture at 5000 x 5000 px) and working carefully with the sharpen tool. Hope it helps. :)

It sort of helps. lol But I think I need to know how to work with textures. I make a texture and apply it to a brush and it just doesn't come out right. Maybe I'm using the wrong blending mode or something.. I haven't really used textures that much with brushes, so I'm a little inexperienced in that area.

Well, I suggest you read some tutorials here on DA, they were written by experienced people and I'm sure they explain it better than me. I can recommend this one [link] .

In short, I work with a few pictures (mainly stone textures) and blend them together, using mainly Burn Tool, Dodge Tool, Clone Stamp Tool, then adjusting Levels etc.
